Jonathan Wener, Chairman
Mr. Wener has over 35 years of experience as a real estate professional in the commercial, industrial, retail, residential and hotel sectors.
Mr. Wener is Chairman, CEO and principal shareholder of the Canderel Group of Companies, a large independent real estate developer with several hundred million dollar projects both in Canada and the United States. The Canderel Group of Companies also provides comprehensive development, management and asset management services.
Under his leadership, Mr. Wener's construction, leasing, management and financial skills have crystallized Canderel Group's extraordinary growth over the past two and a half decades. Mr. Wener is constantly seeking new opportunities to expand the company's horizons by strategically diversifying its product mix, geographic location and financial relationships.
Prior to founding Canderel, Mr. Wener, served in the role of Senior VP for Magil corp where he began his career in 1968 with the construction of various major urban office complexes in large North American cities.
Mr. Wener is an active member of the Board of Governors for Concordia University and the foundation for the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Mr. Wener is an active member of the Advisory Board for the YMCA Foundation as well as recent President of the Board of Directors for the Jewish General Hospital.
Mr. Wener also sits on the Board of Directors for various other corporations including the Laurentian Bank of Canada, Laurentian Trust of Canada Inc., B2B Trust and a number of early stage high-tech companies.
Mr. Wener holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University.
David Friedman, Vice-Chairman
David Friedman is a strategic and visionary leader with 20 years' experience driving revenue, profit, and market-share growth in highly competitive organizations, industries, and markets. He has a broad background in the high-tech industries of communications, wireless, software, and the Internet. His blend of technical, marketing, and business acumen has enabled him build, revitalize, and optimize organizational strategies for both immediate improvement and long-term growth. His background encompasses general P&L management, marketing, operations, sales, and customer service, with a strong technical foundation and a consistent record of creativity, innovation, leadership, and results. His accomplishments include:
- Provided strategy and leadership to build thriving businesses, including a $2B technology firm.
- Transformed organizations from sales/engineering-driven to marketing/customer-centric.
- Turned around sagging market share and developed intensely loyal customer base.
- Wedded product development and technology commercialization to customer needs.
He is currently a consultant for high tech companies and VCs. He recently completed a project as acting VP, Marketing for a global Internet company serving enterprise customers. During this assignment, he was able to refine its strategy, commercialize a $10 million product line that had been languishing in the development stage, and develop a focused product roadmap. He has worked on a variety of wireless broadband projects for start-up companies helping them craft their business plans and go-to-market strategies.
Formerly, as VP, Marketing/Chief Marketing Officer for U.S. Cellular, one of the largest wireless companies and specialty retailers in the nation, he was responsible for building its brand, expanding its distribution, developing its e-business platform, developing new products, and increasing customer loyalty. The brand and positioning he initially created helped establish U.S. Cellular as the dominant company in its markets. The advertising and public relations programs won numerous awards. He was part of the executive team that grew the business to nearly $2 billion with more than 3.5 million customers in less than 6 years.
He has served in executive roles at Covia Technologies that was a pre-IPO software start-up, at Ameritech, and at RCA where he developed three new businesses. He has commercialized products more than 100 products in his career including message oriented middleware, VSATs, shared tenant services, international store and forward facsimile, ISDN, and prepaid cellular services. He began his career as an engineer with Bell Labs and held technical and management positions with MCI and the federal government.
David holds an MBA in Economics from The George Washington University, an MSEE from Columbia University and a BEE degree (summa cum laude) from The City College of New York.
He serves on the Advisory Council of the Salvation Army for its social services programs, and has been a Board member and officer of the international Product Development and Management Association, and a founding member and officer of the Message Oriented Middleware Association.
Wayne Miller, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Miller has a 20-year successful track record in telecom/high
technology and investment banking. Currently, Mr. Miller is Chairman of
Northview Ventures Inc., a privately held holding company. Mr. Miller
was co-founder and former Chief Operating Officer of the Hawkeye Group
Inc., a U.S.-based venture backed by Northbridge Venture Partners, Grove
Street Advisors, and Audax Group ($10 million U.S. Series A) business to
business vertical hub for the procurement of new and used telecom
equipment, which recently acquired Delphi Solutions Inc, Canada's second
largest interconnect company. Prior to joining Hawkeye Group Inc., Mr.
Miller served as Vice President of Operations of AT&T Canada, in which
he oversaw national operations. During his tenure at AT&T Canada, he
streamlined operations of several acquired companies and successfully
lead the integration between the U.S. and Canadian divisions. Previous
to AT&T, Mr. Miller co-founded and was Chief Executive Officer of Canada
Telecom Inc., a market leading telecom company that was ultimately
purchased by AT&T Corp. in an eight figure cash out. Under his
leadership as Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Miller built the start-up to
become the largest prepaid long distance phonecard company in Canada and
pursued the company's rapid growth through key strategic distribution
agreements. He was a frequently requested public speaker at the
industry's U.S.- based trade shows and was a past member of the
industry's leading publication Telecard World Magazine Advisory Board.
As a Strategy Consultant Mr. Miller has focused on developing growth
strategies for some of Canada's leading telecom and technology
companies. Additionally, Mr. Miller co-founded the investment banking
firm of First Canadian Mergers And Acquisitions Inc., and was involved
with the initiation, negotiation, and financing of many successful
mergers and acquisitions involving public and private, national and
international corporations. Mr. Miller is a licensed securities broker
and has served with both Dean Witter Reynolds and Bache Halsey. He
serves on the Board of Directors of several privately held companies and
is an active member of regional and international charitable
organizations.
Recent commendations include being accredited the privilege of Chief
Executive Officer HOT 50 GROWTH COMPANIES (Source," PROFIT Magazine,
September 2005 Edition), SERIAL ENTREPENEUR of the YEAR 2005 (PROFIT
Magazine).
Gary Oberman, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Oberman has a Bachelor's degree in business and a DEC in electronics
technology. Visionary and pioneer, Mr. Oberman has been involved establishing
cutting edge technology and business solutions since 1991. In his most
recent appointment as president of Isee3d Inc., a publicly traded corporation,
Mr. Oberman set new standards for the internet streaming media marketplace,
a billion dollar market segment. Through
strategic initiatives with both Microsoft and Real Networks, Mr. Oberman
successfully broadcast the worlds first ever, live 3D event to an audience
of over 150,000 people. Mr. Oberman has been a keynote speaker on the
subject of internet video and helped
to establish two patents in the field of stereo video data transmission.
Mr. Oberman sits on the board of directors for two public companies, and
has extensive exposure dealing with both institutional and private investors.
Prior to Isee3d, Mr. Oberman was founder and president of Intunix Inc., a mid-range
computer solutions company catering to the computing needs of Fortune 1000 companies
across North America.
Gerald Rubenovitch, Vice President Channel Sales
Mr. Rubenovitch brings with him over 23 years of experience in Sales and Marketing, specializing in Technology products to both the financial services and software sectors. Most recently, Mr. Rubenovitch was Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Technicost Inc. a Canadian based company that develops financial services software for banks and credit unions. Under his tutelage Technicost instituted a national sales and support program that increased revenue 73% over previous year's results. Prior to joining Technicost Mr. Rubenovitch was Co-Founder and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Simago.Com. A start up founded in 1998, Simago is a developer of check imaging and ECP software for Unisys check processing platforms. The company's products are in use by financial institutions all over North America and are the benchmark by which others are measured. Mr. Rubenovitch remained with Simago until it was purchased by BTI in 2001.
Additionally, Mr. Rubenovitch has consulted to technology firms throughout North America; Hitachi Data Systems, MEI, Repco Data, and Data Translation Inc. to name a few, in which he was involved in the development, and deployment of many successful sales campaigns and marketing programs. Moreover, Mr. Rubenovitch has served as a consultant to both McGill University and Concordia University (John Molson Business School) in his home town, Montreal. Mr. Rubenovitch serves as a member of Budget Conferencing Inc.'s Advisory board.
